Unlanded Volume 1

Andrew Lagowski I find this very therapeutic to listen to and recommend using headphones for best effect. There is so much going on that repeated listens are mandatory. The lift sample in ‘Hotel’ is reminiscent of Joy Division and a lovely touch, although I suspect unintended. Favorite track: Hotel.

about

Unlanded Volume 1
Laminamancy

Laminamancy, n. Studying the effects of layering phenomena, materials, histories, geographies, memories and ideas to explore how they interfere.

All sounds recorded, found, programmed, manipulated, improvised and assembled by John Bowers.

Zona
- a cataclysm, exclusion, abandonment, vitalism, unmappable, shifts of time, space and perception, a room of desire, the greedy, the curious, the lost, the desperate, a revelation

Pulses
- fast and broken

Hotel
- I could not sleep for the noisy ghosts when I stayed at the Chelsea Hotel

The Moat
- a farm, a mansion, a ruin, a new estate of unaffordable luxury

Cascades
- the escape route offered by cascading strings

Made at Slaughterhouse Studio, Coddenham, Ipswich, Suffolk, England, July 2023.

Album image is a laminmantic layering of photographs I took at the Chelsea Hotel, New York in 2011.
